If you work in vocational rehabilitation, you've probably felt the strain: growing caseloads, staffing shortages, and not enough time to bring new people up to speed. These challenges within the vocational rehabilitation workforce are not new, but they can make it harder for agencies to support and develop their staff.
Changes in VR personnel requirements have also expanded the range of professional backgrounds from which agencies can recruit. That creates opportunities to bring new people into the field, while increasing the importance of training that builds knowledge of disability, rehabilitation, and employment services.
That's one of the challenges StaffUp ASAP was built to address.
Where CSAVR Comes In
The Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation (CSAVR) is a national organization representing administrators of state vocational rehabilitation agencies.
Through its relationships with state VR agencies across the country, CSAVR brings an important perspective to StaffUp ASAP: an understanding of the workforce challenges agencies face and the professional development needs of their staff. That perspective helps connect the project to the realities of public vocational rehabilitation services.
Connecting StaffUp with VR Agencies Nationwide
CSAVR helps connect StaffUp ASAP with state VR agencies, shares information about training opportunities through its national network, and supports the exchange of information that can inform workforce development efforts.
These connections help StaffUp reach the agencies and professionals the training is designed to support. They also create opportunities for the project to learn from the experiences and priorities of VR agencies in different states.
The goal is to support a better-prepared VR workforce by making relevant professional development opportunities more widely available.
